Get the VR lens because:

-- it may indeed let you hand-hold some low-light shots
-- tests indicate it's optically better than its predecessor
-- the price is very reasonable

Hope this helps.

Squarethecircle is right ... even if you had many years experience shooting long lenses handheld, the VR lens makes things much easier when shooting.

The links to Ken Rockwells site are excellent ... look through the other articles on his site as well. They can help you to quickly understand and use your camera in more advanced ways.

VR improves the performance of this specific lens significantly at only a small premium. All night shots with a telephoto will still require a tripod, but in the range of 1/5-1/60 you can find a very significant improvement in performance. Read the articles below and try and determine whether you really need the extra performance (especially as the premium is larger when exchanging the lens).

The VR can help you capture a great photo, where you'd otherwise capture a perfectly exposed blur.

I took a Nikon 18-200mm VR to China as my only optic and was duly impressed. Trust me, after hiking up the Great Wall, you're pretty tired and that VR was a life-saver!

The price difference is minimal and you'll appreciate the security of that extra feature. Think of it this way - you know how slow you can handhold a camera now? After getting a VR lens, you'll be able to capture the same photo, but at 3 to 4 shutterspeeds slower.

The VR also has a second mode that allows you to capture still photos while you are in motion. Again, that proved handy while I was on a rocking boat touring Shanghai. The nighttime skyline shots I got would have been impossible otherwise.

One of the bargains in Barcelona ( and all of Spain) is the 'menu del dia' business lunch. For only €10 to €15 you get full three courses with a soft drink or beer or a half liter of wine.
Check out the menus outside restaurants and bars, look inside and if the place is full, go in.

Much better than any fast food place.

I was there in January for a few days. Airfare will average around $400-$500 depending on the time of year/season. The hotel we stayed at was really nice and cost about $120 per night, but I'm sure you can find cheaper. Food was about $50-$60/day: that included cheap breakfast like a bagel or coffee, a cheap lunch at a small pizza shop or sandwich shop and splurging most of our daily food budget for a really nice dinner, including 1 glass of wine. The 2-day tour was around $20 and it was a hop-on/hop-off bus throughout the whole city.

Good Luck!

my friend went to barcelona last summer he spent about 3 wks there... again the cost of the trip depends on your aims for going there. according to my friend I would suggest he spent roughly about $$$ 3500

The only difference between the memory featured in both pages is that newegg's page is showing memory (a total of 2GB) in two 1Gig Sticks. However, the stick at 4allmemory is a single stick of 2G. This would mean that, if you wanted to install only an additional stick, you would end up with a total of 3GB of memory in your system. However, if you bought the two 1G sticks from newegg, you'd only be able to either add one of them along with your current stick, or replace your current stick as well, for a total of 2GB. You can upgrade your system to a total of 4GB of RAM, in which case you'd want to buy two 2GB sticks, however 4Gigs may not be all that beneficial to you if you're running a 32bit version of Vista.

At the time they reviewed the E-510, www.dpreview.com compared it to the Sony DSLR-A100, Pentax K10D, & Canon EOS 400D.
