The funny and often enthralling Ice Age is a digital re-imagining of the Western Three Godfathers just as A Bug’s Life was a computer-animated comedy inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s The Seven Samurai. The heroes of this unofficial remake (set 20,000 years ago, during the titular Paleolithic era) are a taciturn mastodon named Manfred (voiced by Ray Romano), an annoying sloth named Sid (John Leguizamo) and a duplicitous, sabre tooth tiger, Diego (Denis Leary). The unlikely team encounters a dying human mother who relinquishes her chirpy toddler to the care of these critters. Hoping, against all odds, to return the little guy to his migrating tribe, Manfred and his associates require trust between themselves, not an easy thing in a harsh world of predators, prey and pushy glaciers. If audiences have become accustomed to the rounded, polished, storybook look of Pixar’s house brand of computer animation (Monsters, Inc.), the blunt edges and chilly brilliance of Ice Age–evoking the harsh, dangerous environment of a frozen world–are a wholly different, and equally pleasing, trip. –Tom Keogh

This movie is funny and interesting but i couldn’t shake the feeling of how unrealistic it is. A mammoth will not travel north during the ice age just because he wants to be alone. These animals are moving at a moderate pace without food in the freezing cold. Defidently not realistic.

We saw Shrek in the cinema and immediately pre-ordered the DVD when we got home. The same for Monsters Inc. We’d forgotten Ice Age pretty much by the time we’d walked back to the car-park, so will not be buying this DVD in a hurry. The characters were uninteresting, the plot lame and ovious and the animation nowhere near the standard of the two I’ve just mentioned. Best avoided.

Just complete rubbish! Buy this at your peril! You have been warned… Not a patch on Shrek, Toy Story or even Monsters Inc – which is saying something. Animation has moved on from the standards seen in this movie so much, that this immediately puts you off.

Ice age is so funny. its about Sid, Manny and sandeigo. Sid is a sloth, manny is a mammoth and sandeigo is some type of large cat.
Sid wakes up one morning to find all his family gone. He meets Manny (who saves sid’s life) But manny does not like Sid. He likes to be on his own since his wife and kid died.
Sandeigo and his pack meanwhile have attacked the humans. And have tried to steal the baby of one of the humans.
Manny and Sid try to save the baby and bring it back to the humans.
A very funny watch.
