  1. First of all, it is important to appreciate that I bought this item because I wanted to convert written documents that I use for work into MP3 speech files (using some text-to-MP3 conversion software that I have) so that I could listen to my documents straight off a 1GB Pen Drive while driving instead of having to read them at home. Therefore my number one concern was the clarity of the speech as it passed through this device – which turned out to be great – very clear and very easy to understand. I tried music as well (out of interest) and the quality was average. If you plan to use this device for music only then don’t expect CD quality as the radio link intoduces some background noise which makes the music sound just very slightly muffled. The line-in socket plugged directly into a separate MP3 player seemed to give better results than playing MP3 music files directly off the Pen Drive option.

The unit itself is nicely made with a soft rubber type feel (rather than the usual cheap hard plastic). One thing to bear in mind is that when it has a Pen Drive plugged in (which goes in the top) it then makes the unit quite tall, however it does swivel at the base which is useful. There are no instructions supplied other than a picture and a couple of words, so some trial and error is involved to set it up – but this is all quite straightforward (the unit displays on the LCD panel on the front what FM frequency you need to tune your car radio into in order to pick up the signal). If you have a brand new Pen drive then format it on your PC first before copying any files to it as the unit didn’t seem to be able to read the MP3 files properly from the Pen drive until I had done this. The remote control is handy – but one thing to bear in mind is that it is Infared based and not Radio based. Which means that you have to point the remote control directly at the unit otherwise it won’t pick up the Infared signal (even when I tried to bounce the Infared signal off the white interior roof of the car it still couldn’t pick up the signal). If your cigarette lighter is tucked away then this may be an issue.

There is only a play and pause option on the unit itself (plus some frequency controls for setting up the output signal), controls such as next/previous/stop/pause/play etc. are all on the remote control. There is an EQ option button as well on there which allows various combinations of treble and base to be stepped through that can help align the music quality with the characteristics of your car radio. There is also a couple of buttons that allow you to speed up or slow down the speed of the track – not really all that useful when playing music tracks (unless you just want to make your music sound funny!), however when listening to speech these two buttons turned out to be very useful indeed as I can now shorten the amount of time it takes to listen to a whole document by speeding it up – or if I wish, I can slow it right down if a section is not very clear to understand. All in all I am very happy with this device, it has fully met all my requirements and is good value for money. I also suspect that all devices of this type (that have to transmit the music to your car radio as a radio signal) will suffer from the same loss of quality when playing music and this one is probably as good as any other on the market in this respect. If you are looking for CD quality music coming out of your car radio from a separate MP3 player then I would recommend looking into a hardwired set up and not a radio link set up. However, if you only need speech quality between your MP3 player and your car radio then a radio link device such as this one is more than adequate.

  2. Right, I bought this case from Amazon because it was cheap and it said it fittes the iPod touch. I got it out of it’s case and there were pictures on the box of another type of case. But I later found out that it wasn’t for the case inside. So I got my iPod, put it inside the case and it just slipped out!!!!!!!!!! This really annoyed me because I was really looking forward to getting it.

I then saw C. M. Ellis “Chris”’s comment. He wrote it on the day i recieved it!!! So annoying!!! If only I waited a few more days because i DID look at the reviews of it and i wouldn’t have had to go through the dissapointment and sending back

    DOES NOT FIT IPOD TOUCH!

Great value for money and a nice product although it doesn’t fit the ipod touch 2nd generation which is what i bought it for – it simply slips out!

Have given to a friend with an iphone and it fits nicely.

Would have had more stars if it had fulfilled my needs.

  4. Too tight and too fiddly. Stopped using it after 1 day. I does however look good and may appeal to others.

Fits my Iphone well enough and works – however, it is NOT leather as described but plastic

If it were slightly more expensive I would have returned as not as described, but at this price I just could not be bothered.

An yes it does protect the phone so all is not lost
