hey! im gettin an ipod touch for christmas! and i have a few questions

1. does the mail part need wi-fi
2. when your done using it and lets say you wanna put it in your pocket cuz your gonna do something, do you just click the sleep/wake button or turn the whole thing off. does just clicking the sleep/wake button waste battery?
3. can you give me an honest review of the ipod touch 2g? (doesnt have to be long)

I just brought the Nikon D40, i want to use it for astrophotography, i read up quite a bit before i made the purchase, knowing the camera had some good reviews and a bulb setting. I just purchased the remote control today and now realized that deactivation time on the remote will only go up to 15 minutes. Why advertise with an unlimited bulb setting when it's not. With the remote it will deactivate at 15 mins.

How will it be possible for me to take a shot on bulb for over 15 minutes, without this remote and without physically touching the camera. The camera will be piggy backed on a telescope with a motor drive?

Am i right or did i read up on this all wrong.

I purchased a D40 this weekend. I had the option of selecting a package deal which included the 18-55 and an additional NIKON DX AF-S 55-200F4-5.6 G ED lens.

Basically the lens came out to be cheaper then alone, but its non-vr.

Now I read some reviews that the VR makes a difference but does it really do as advertise? Should I return the 0 lens and purchase a VR one seperately?

I'm a hobbyist photographer that enjoys taking landscape images and night shots. If the VR lens will allow me to avoid setting up a tripod as some views have said then maybe its worth it.

However, if it is good but to still get a great night shot you need a tripod then I'll stay with my non-vr…

Any input would be appreciated!!
I have 14 days (well now 12 days) to return or exchange the lens…

Hello. I have a Toshiba laptop, running windows VISTA (aka…Satan's OS).

I currently only have 1GB of RAM for running Vista, which is what's causing my slowness, so I'm told.

I'm thinking about buying a dSLR camera. From the reviews I've read — Olympus E-510 looks like the best bet, with its in-body image stabilization and dust reduction system. But, compared to Nikon or Canon, there are very few Olympus lenses available. So — what cameras have similar characteristics and are in the same price range as E-510? What would you recommend? And, for an amateur photographer, how important is the number of available lenses?

I know this may sounds horribly stupid I don’t know if it’s supposed to be like this of if it’s right in front of me and I can’t figure it out.. I have a Nikon D60 and you know regularly… when looking taking a picture you can look through the eyepiece or through the screen, there is even a sensor so it can tell when you are looking through the eyepiece and the screen is supposed to display what is being seen by the camera but it’s always black
I can only ever use the eyepiece because when taking pictures the screen displays black, it only shows anything when i am reviewing pictures or on the menu etc… is there something I’m missing? a way to turn it on?
yeah I understand the theory of it all, but the thing is there is the sensor there to turn it on and off, and in the manual there is something about either looking through the eyepiece or at the screen. I don't mind looking through the eyepiece but if I'm supposed to be able to do it, or if there is a way to do it I'd like to know now, or know now that something is wrong with my camera before the warranty goes up if it's actually a problem. I couldn't imagine focusing through the screen but for non-photography just regular everyday pictures when it's on auto-focus..

I have this laptop http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/dell-inspiron-1721/4505-3121_7-32471369.html and i want to download the Sims2 on to it but I am scared of the space it will take up. I am not too big on computers so I do not know if the 2700MB is a lot of space for this laptop. I also have Vista but have read of others playing it there. I have the expansion packs but I think I will just stick with my Sims2. What should I do?
