Product Description
Simply hold vinturi over a glass and pour a bottle of wine through. Vinturi draws in and mixes the proper amount of air for the right amount of time, allowing your wine to breathe instantly. You’ll notice a better bouquet, enhanced flavors and smoother finish. Wine which has been allowed to breathe tastes better. As wine breathes, it opens up, and releases its intended aromas and flavors. Traditionally, decanters were used to aerate wine. However, decanting is time consuming, cumbersome, inconvenient, and impossible to guarantee outside ones home.
Vinturi’s design speeds up this process with ease and convenience. Perfect aeration in the time it takes to pour a glass.

  1. I ordered this through Amazon Vine because although I don’t drink wine, my father and brother-in-law both do. It’s very stylish looking and easy to use and makes a most amusing noise when you pour the wine through it. It seems to have excellent reviews on here but I can only say that neither of the wine drinkers in the family felt it made any difference at all.

I appreciate I can’t comment myself but both agreed independently they couldn’t taste any difference. I was also very shocked when I read the price of this gadget on here. I was sent it free via the Vine programme but I was astonished to see the price. Yes, it’s a nice design and comes with a nice little storage pouch but it is still ultimately a very simple device made primarily of plastic and I think the price asked is excessive.

I cannot recommend it I’m afraid.

  2. Very attractively packaged and nicely designed. However, no noticeable difference to the wine taste. We tested this both by glass and decanter. It irritatingly drips after use and has to be washed before returning to box. It joins the list of unnecessary and ineffective items in the kitchen.

This aerator is a lot smaller than I anticipated, but it works very well and is of very high quality … it feels solid and well built. It does make a strange sound when in action which came as a bit of a shock, but overall a great product!!

  4. I have never been a fan of “letting a wine breathe” – opening a bottle an hour or 2 before drinking (why bother? So little of the wine comes into contact with the air) or even decanting it. So I was really sceptical about this device. But I tried to give it a fair trial, using it with a relatively ordinary bottle of Italian red and a pretty decent bottle of New Zealand Pinot Noir. And I had 2 separate glasses, one for use with the device, the other for pouring straight from the bottle. My wife also joined in the trial. Neither of us could taste, smell or see any significant difference, with either wine. Maybe it is our palates and noses – I note that others have nothing but praise for the device’s effects. But for me a swirl of the wine in the glass does far more!

Good luck to those who do find it has a beneficial effect; it is certainly a good-looking and well-made item, which is why I have given 2 stars rather than 1. But I shall be giving mine to my son and his wife for them to experiment with – and I promise to update this review with their results, whichever way they go!

Update (January 2010): my son and daughter-in-law have now tested it twice and although they thought they could detect a slight improvement in the taste using the aerator it was nowhere near sufficient to warrant paying quite a lot for it.

We bought this as a gift for someone and thought it was so good we got one for ourselves. It really does work.
